Sir Mike said: "Four to five days would be ideal. But even if it was today, it's good to go." The General, who led Nato troops in Kosovo, made his comments during a visit to troops in Kuwait. Asked about reports that some soldiers were lacking vital equipment and suffering from low morale, he said: "If anything, I'm a little concerned it may be too comfortable. "If they are required to do a dangerous job in difficult circumstances, they must get used to those circumstances." Parents of some troops stationed in the Gulf have claimed their sons are being fed only one meal a day, and are not fully equipped. Defence Minister Lewis Moonie denied there were food shortages, claiming the reports were just isolated incidents |
