'Truckies' & Redcaps Mobilised

Over one hundred Territorial Army soldiers of 150 Transport Regiment and twenty four Territorial Army “Red Caps” mobilised

Over one hundred Territorial Army soldiers of 150 Transport Regiment from Hull, Leeds, Doncaster and Tynemouth are to be mobilised as part of the UK military contingency preparations in relation to Iraq.

Also twenty four of the Territorial Army “Red Caps” from Newcastle, Stockton and Hull are to be mobilised as part of the UK military contingency preparations in relation to Iraq.

150 Transport Regiment is the only Territorial Army Transport Regiment for Yorkshire and the North East. The soldiers are being mobilised to reinforce Regular Army units within 102 Logistics Brigade.


252 Provost Company RMP is the only Territorial Army “Red Cap” unit for Yorkshire and the North East. The soldiers are being mobilised to support 1 (UK) Armoured Division.

This deployment of a substantial Land package was announced by Secretary of State for Defence, Geoff Hoon MP on 20 January who emphasised that no decision to commit troops to military action had been made.
