Corporal Robert Issott, a postman from Ossett, near Wakefield, West Yorkshire, and his fiancee Claire Vickers, both 24, had been due to tie the knot next weekend. But they brought forward the ceremony at Wakefield Register Office after Corporal Issott received a letter ordering him to report for duty next Monday with 104 Battalion REME. He said: "Claire was obviously very upset when she saw the letter informing me I had to report for duty a week before my wedding - a wedding we had spent 18 months planning. "I am apprehensive but I have a good idea of what to expect as I have worked alongside the regular Army during an operational tour of Bosnia." |
