Deepcut Back in the NewsTue, February 04, 2003Source: Ananova NewsFollowing on from a previous story on MoD Oracle Parliament is now to examine bugging claimMinisters are to discuss claims that the family of a soldier who died at Deepcut Army barracks had their home bugged. Perth MP Annabelle Ewing will take up the allegations by the family of Private James Collinson who died in suspicious circumstances. Jim and Yvonne Collinson believe their son was murdered and claim the bugs were found after Tayside detectives swept their home. But the police say no such equipment was found and the Ministry of Defence says the Collinsons' claims are 'misguided'. Yvonne Collinson said last week that police had detected a device in the switch of a lamp, which is located next to a telephone in the family's living room. They will be at the Commons when Annabelle Ewing seeks assurance during an adjournment debate on non-combat deaths in the military that the Collinson's fears were unfounded. Speaking before the debate, Ms Ewing, said: "I plan to raise the Collinsons' concerns that they thought people were listening into their telephone conversations. "The results of this sweep have not been conclusive but the claim by the MoD was that any potential claim was 'misguided'. "I want to extract from Junior Defence Minister Dr Lewis Moonie what 'misguided' means." |
