BFBS Radio and BFBS Television are both now on air in all the major British forces locations across the Gulf region

BFBS Radio and BFBS Television are both now on air in all the major British forces locations across the Gulf region. New technology also means that BFBS programmes can also be received by some Royal Navy ships at sea. And in Kuwait, a new BFBS radio station is now operational, and will launch ‘officially’ in a few days’ time.

BFBS radio can be heard on 102-107FM, depending on location.

For the first time in its 60-year history, BFBS has a number of accredited war reporters ‘embedded’ with units. Susie Ferguson is with the1st Bn Royal Regiment of Fusiliers. Rory Higgins and Annie Haresign are with HQ 1 (UK) Armoured Division, and Katie Roy is with the Royal Navy.

Reporting assignments aside, at the top of the BFBS list of ‘things to do’ is helping troops in the Gulf keep in touch with friends and family back home, whether in UK, Germany – or anywhere! In the UK, BFBS has joined forces with Virgin Radio and BBC Radio 2, both of which give BFBS national coverage at home.

·       Every Saturday morning, Virgin Radio's Ben Jones and BFBS's Glen Mansell read messages of support in a simulcast on Virgin Radio and BFBS.

·       On Sundays, part of Steve Wright’s Sunday Love Songs is relayed by BFBS direct to troops in the Gulf.

In addition to this, BFBS is exchanging messages with Garrison Radio for broadcast on their Low Power AM stations in Catterick, Colchester, Aldershot and Bulford/Tidworth.

But whichever station people listen to in the UK, the only way that troops in the Gulf can hear requests is via BFBS.

And if you want to make dedication or special request to your family and friends in the Gulf, it couldn’t be easier:

·       Visit the BFBS website at www.bfbs.com and click on the pop-up request form

·        Ring our Gulf Dedication hotline on o1494 87 88 77.
From overseas, that’s + 44 (0) 1494 87 88 77.

·       Send a bluey to Gulf Requests, BFBS UK, BFPO 786.
