The British Army Germany Rugby Team have triumphed in a pre-season warm up against a team from the new charity Rugby for Heroes.
It took place in Sennelager in scorching temperatures, bringing out the crowds in force to see the Germany side score three tries in quick succession, along with a conversion and penalty taking them to 20 points by half time.
The Rugby for Heroes side, mainly made up of players from Hereford rugby club were sluggish to start and after 40 minutes three points from a penalty was the only mark they made on the scoreboard.
But in the second half Rugby for Heroes stepped up to get back into the game. However it was a case of too little too late as they failed to surpass the advantage the BA(G) team had carved out, with the match ending 20 points to 10 for the home side.
The Rugby for Heroes team now hopes to raise more awareness of the work they do in helping personnel make the transition from military to civilian life.
