Belfast City Council is voting later on whether to fly the Armed Forces Flag for the week running up to Armed Forces Day.
The Council called an emergency meeting to debate flying the flag from the city hall after the Ministry of Defence made the request.
In previous years Belfast City Council have, after several votes, eventually agreed to fly the flag just for Armed Forces Day and not the six before it.
The DUP are hoping in this year of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee they will be able to fly it for the whole week.
It will make for a heated debate in Belfast City Hall.
