This Saturday the group heads to RAF Brize Norton this weekend to compete against teams from the Army, Royal Air Force, police and other emergency services teams to pull a C-130 Hercules over a set distance to raise as much money as possible for the British Limbless Ex Servicemen’s Association.
This year, the organisers of the event kindly agreed for half of the money raised by the Devon Police Team to go towards the Mark Marshall Youth Fund.
The fund was set up by friends and family in memory of PCSO Mark Marshall, the 29-year-old neighbourhood officer from Countess Weir and Topsham, who was killed in Afghanistan in February this year.
Through his work and in his spare time Mark helped those less fortunate than himself and a charity to support activities for young people in Exeter is a fitting reminder of his work in the local community.
Anyone interested in supporting the team, which is made up of 10 officers and eight of Mark’s friends and familyshould keep their eyes open for future fundraising events.
