PO Jamie Adam (28) died after he was involved in a collision with competitor Chris Bradshaw – a sergeant with West Midlands Police and former member of the RAF Regiment. The 39-year-old officer was also killed in the accident.
A spokeswoman for the Royal Navy told MoDOracle.com that the accident is under investigation. She added that the thoughts of personnel were with the families, loved ones and friends of both PO Adam and Sgt Bradshaw.
An Air Engineering Technician, PO Adam had just completed a training course at HMS Sultan in Gosport and was due to join Royal Naval Air Station at Culdrose in Cornwall.
The Serviceman, who had completed demanding operational tours of both Iraq and Afghanistan, had previously been at 846 RNAS at Yeovilton in Somerset.
Sgt Bradshaw was also an experienced motorcyclist who had nearly two decades of service with both the West Midlands and Leicestershire Forces.
He completed two tours of Northern Ireland with the RAF Regiment before joining the police in 1992. He was serving with the West Midlands Traffic Department.
A statement from Sgt Bradshaw’s family said: “Chris was a much-loved son, partner, brother and uncle who will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
“Chris died pursuing the hobby he loved – motorcycle racing – and was committed to enjoying his passion and sharing it with others,” the statement concluded.
