Farewell To Wills Hero

Friday, May 09, 2008

Source: The Sun Online

Solemn schoolchildren pay their last respects to war hero Robert Pearson – the Trooper whose body was flown back from Afghanistan by Prince William.

Floral tributes reading “Brother” and “Son” were placed in the hearse for Robert, 22 – killed by a landmine in Helmand Province last month.

Hundreds of soldiers, friends and relatives attended yesterday’s service in his home-town of Grimsby, Lincs.

Major Khashi Sharifi said Trooper Pearson, of the Queen’s Royal Lancers, had made the “ultimate sacrifice”.

Prince William, 25 – who flew the body to RAF Lyneham, Wilts, last week – privately met Robert’s family.

He said he was “honoured” to have been part of the operation.
