A FORMER soldier who was attacked on a bus after telling yobs to stop swearing has died.
Stan Dixon, 60, hit his head on the pavement in front of girlfriend Anne Fisher, 41, and fell unconscious. He died in hospital on Wednesday.
Anne said of the dad of three yesterday: “He was a happy-go-lucky man who enjoyed life. He has been a father figure to my daughter Lauren and she has been badly affected by his death.
“He was well liked by everyone. We are all devastated and will miss him terribly.”
Gary Robson, 23, of Peterlee, Co Durham, appeared before local JPs yesterday charged with murder in Horden. He was remanded in custody to appear at Newcastle Crown Court next week.
