Courage
“I am extremely grateful for the invaluable assistance and support from Help for Heroes and other service charities in making this happen. The new campaign to fund the building of recovery centres is one that has my full support.”
The highly decorated senior officer also heaped huge praise on his brave troops.
Brig Gordon — who won a Distinguished Service Order during the Iraq war — added: “Every day, the men and women of 3 Commando Brigade and our attached units have performed superbly in extremely challenging conditions.
“They have shown great strength of character, courage, determination, camaraderie and fighting spirit.
“Many good friends and fine soldiers have lost their lives, and many more have been seriously injured.
“We have all been profoundly touched by this and our thoughts often turn to those who have lost loved ones on this tour, or who are struggling to overcome injury”.
