A mass motorcycle ride in support of the armed forces serving in Afghanistan has passed through Wootton Bassett, where fallen UK soldiers are repatriated.

Bikers from all over the UK descended on the Wiltshire town of Wootton Bassett yesterday (Sunday 14 March 2010) in a show of strength for Britain's Armed Forces and to pay their respects to the fallen and to the town through which all Afghan repatriations occur.

An estimated 10,000 bikers and 5,000 pillion passengers took part.

Many camped over the weekend at the nearby Hullavington airfield before riding through the town in groups of approximately 2000 at a time.

The weather was kind for the event and large crowds, including many locals,  gathered along the High Street to see the procession in an excellent atmosphere.

Each biker paid £5 to take part, with many raising more for the Afghan Heroes charity which is expected to benefit by in excess of £100,000 when the monies are all collected in.
