Is the nickname for South African whites still Yarpies? that's what they were called when I was stationed in Southern Rhodesia in the middle fifties at R.A.T.G. Kumalo near Bulawayo.

I haven't heard that one ,how long ago were you in South Africa. Some words we used Hout=blackAfrikaan,Makiwa=white people,Soutpeel= An Englishman. But I haven't heard of Yarpie, what year are we talking about.Slang words change.Maybe one of the other lads can help?
Big Dunc,I really think you should have your eyes tested as I've written the time and place in my previous post. But to save you going back (I feel generous today) I'll repeat. Southern Rhodesia (as it was then called) in 1951. On the Sqdn .we also had 3 munts,John,Joseph and Makusa from the Rhodesian African Rifles and these called the dutch settlers 'Yarpies'.
