E-Bluey

Family and friends of Servicemen should be aware that when a Serviceman is on an operational tour of duty, they are entitled to receive aerogramme letters ("blueys") free of charge. Blank aerogrammes can be collected from most post offices and are sent without stamps using the normal Royal Mail system.

It is also possible to deliver the same service from the comfort of your own home using the 'e-bluey'. The e-bluey is a free service for the use of service personnel, their relatives and friends who are on operations or on exercises that last for more than 60 days. The Ministry of Defence pays for the cost of the e-bluey. Once your text is received it will automatically print off and fold itself inside a sealed envelope without anybody being able to access or read your personal message. This will then be delivered to the Serviceman by the postal services in the operational theatre, thus minimising inconvenience and speeding up the delivery process.
